Happy Birthday to me!!
I am somewhere in the hills of Texas, miles from anywhere. It is my birthday.
And it is perfect!
We have found a place to park off the highway next to a beautiful valley and we have decided to set down here for the day.
It is a beautiful day. The sun is shining gloriously.
We were on the road for about 6 hours today and we drove through a variety of landscapes. We drove through flat grassland, then into mesa country, and then into hills nearly completely covered with brush and trees..
Yet somehow things not only grow here, but thrive. That is the wonder of nature.
The picture above is a bit deceiving as the hilltop you see above the rock is actually quite a ways back. The little knob you see on the top was present on many of the hills in that area.
I took the pictures below east of Forth Stockton. At first glance I thought the cowboys on their horses were real but a second look revealed they were made of metal.
After we got set up for the night, I went for a walk to get some pictures of our surroundings.
There are some very interesting trees here that seem to be related to our cedars. As you can see they have a much different shape, but the “leaves” are much the same only on a smaller scale.
I remember a fellow at Gilla Bend telling us how they skin them, chop them up, and then fry them with lots of hot spices and put them in a burger. Apparently they are very good.
My favorite picture of the day is the one below. This was taken just a few yards from our MH.
We have no wi-fi- here of course so the above will be posted at a later date. Keep warm.
